In cooperation with the Horizon 2020 IndustRE Project, this year conference will focus on the energy system change and the opportunities, challenges and needs of the European industry and what the industry can do to help Europe achieve its climate goals.
From past boom-bust times in the roll out of renewables in some EU Member States and steep learning curves, the citizens and industry in Europe nowadays can use RES technologies at most competitive prices and via increasingly sector-coupled and digitalised systems. From centralised base load to advanced decentralised auto-production also on industry scale, the new pathways open many avenues for new systems, services and uses.
During the last years, BBH participated in the challenging inter-disciplinary IndustRE project under Horizon 2020 with colleagues from science, industry and engineering. The afternoon of the workshop will focus on the outcome of this project, the challenges and barriers for industry to go more and more renewable in the different Member States and to engage in direct supply and use of renewable energy.
