The first ever Clean Energy for EU Islands forum will mark the launch of the Clean Energy for All European Islands Initiative, which aims to help the more than 2700 islands in the EU reduce high energy costs and challenges regarding energy security, make more use of renewables, and develop innovative energy systems. The forum will include discussion sessions on decarbonising islands in the EU, and obtaining financing for this. It will also feature two roundtables showcasing existing best practices and innovative projects in the areas of renewables, research and innovation, and energy efficiency. Speakers will include the Prime Minister of Greece, Alexis Tsipras, the European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, Miguel Arias Cañete, and the Director-General for Energy at the European Commission, Dominique Ristori.
