Cooperation in European energy research & innovation:reality and expectations
A joint and coordinated effort of all stakeholders is essential to advance energy research and innovation in Europe. Cooperation is at the core of the Integrated Strategic Energy Technology (SET)-Plan (launched in September 2015 and recently assessed by the European Commission in its progress report), which requires greater integration and coordination of the different players to accelerate the transformation of the European energy system. But how does this idea translate in practice? What is the status of stakeholder cooperation in energy R&I in Europe and how do the different actors involved (universities and research organisations, industry, Member States, European institutions, international organisations and other stakeholders) coordinate priorities and activities, both internally and with each other?
The EERA policy event 2017 will be the opportunity for the stakeholders in the energy R&I community to discuss their views on cooperation, what it means for them and how to work together to achieve the objectives of the Integrated SET-Plan and the innovation goals set out in the Commission´s 2016 “Clean Energy for All Europeans†package (commonly referred to as the “Winter Packageâ€) to support a more competitive, modern and cleaner energy system.
The event will also be the occasion to announce the EERA new Chair and Vice-Chair and to hear EERA new Chair´s first address to the stakeholder community.
