22nd September 2014 @ 12:00 am CEST

The 29th EUPVSEC Conference will take place from Monday to Friday, 22 to 26 September 2014 (exhibition area open from 23 to 25 September) at RAI Congress & Exhibition Centre, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. It will be the most important International Conference in the field of Photovoltaics in 2014.
The international Conference programme is structured in plenary, oral and visual presentations and covers the entire range of PV research, technologies and applications, focusing on the latest scientific, technological and market-related trends. Now, that Photovoltaic Solar Energy is becoming a major electricity source, the EU PVSEC extended its focus to applied and policy-oriented topics. The EU PVSEC thus strengthens its established leading role in science and technology among the players of the global PV sector.

Covering the entire range of the PV value chain, including research, technologies and applications, the Conference Programme is focusing on the most recent scientific, technological and market-related developments.

The political and economic discussion in the PV sector is currently shifting from installed capacities to levelised costs of electricity (LCOE) per kWh during the different times of the day. These costs are not only influenced by the available solar radiation, efficiency, performance, reliability and lifetime of the PV systems but equally by design, orientation, sizing and placing of the PV systems in the electricity system. Available auxiliary grid services like voltage and frequency stabilisation as well as local and central storage options add to the value of PV generated electricity.

Responding to suggestions from the scientific community, the 29th EU PVSEC Conference programme tackles these challenges with the adaptation of the topical structure. This allows for an increased focus on the topics of reliability issues on module and system level, as well as on aspects of grid integration and dispatchable electricity from PV systems. This includes the need for new materials and concepts in module design and manufacturing, for power electronics and for the use of PV as building material and customer driven developments. The associated necessary changes in policy perception, legal frameworks and related regulations complete this topical extension.

The Conference will be structured along the following main subjects:

  • New Materials and Concepts for Solar Cells and Modules
  • Wafer-Based Silicon Solar Cells and Materials Technology
  • Thin Film Solar Cells
  • Solar Cells / Assemblies / Modules for Terrestrial Concentrator Systems and for Space Solar Generators
  • Operations, Performance and Reliability of Photovoltaics – from Cells to Systems
  • PV Applications
  • PV – A Major Electricity Source
