EUREC is a partner of the THEUS Horizon Europe project that aims to demonstrate a range of advanced methodologies, tools, models, and technologies that support the implementation and operation of hybrid grids across High Voltage, Medium Voltage and Low Voltage levels.
Over the past month EUREC coordinated with the THEUS consortium – comprising research centres, universities, DSOs and equipment manufacturer – a response to the European Commission’s Call for Evidence for its upcoming Electrification Action Plan. The deadline for input was 9 October.
The project’s feedback to the Commission highlights the importance of funding the deployment of hybrid AC/DC networks to better integrate RES and storage, developing an EU regulatory framework for Medium Voltage DC and increasing grid-forming capabilities to increase grid stability.
Our THEUS response along with a supporting IEEE conference paper (‘Hybrid HVAC–HVDC Grids: Review on Techno-economic, Societal, and Regulatory Aspects’) can be accessed here.
